Inspiration is a wild creature.
Writers and designers know it better than anyone else.
The most talented and hard-working writers learn to control their inner unicorn after a while. It comes with experience, especially when income is directly linked to inspiration.
For most of us, alas, this isn't always the case. You either capture your moody muse right away, or stare at a blank Word page for thirty minutes before getting truly frustrated.
When I joined the Omnipapers crew, I strongly believed that I belonged in the second category. Which means that I'm either inspired and ready to pour my everything onto the page, or I'm as blank as that new Word doc. Hard work allowed me to grow a leash for that inner unicorn of mine.
Writing is a pretty hard job, and it's really not for everyone. This isn't obvious, but this is the hard truth - everyone knows how to speak, but not everyone is an excellent public speaker. We all know how to laugh and cry, but most of us aren't good at acting. The leader of Omnipapers crew, Emily Johnson, has blogged a lot about it.
